Client Services
Green Couch Counseling provides individual, couples, and family therapy. An eclectic approach is used to help meet your counseling goals. Research shows that the connection between client and therapist is much more important than the therapeutic modality used.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a type of somatic therapy that enables people to heal from emotional distress caused by disturbing life experiences. I often tell clients it's like a software update for your brain. The goal is to fully process any stuck memories, thoughts, and sensations and store them where they belong. EMDR does not erase traumatic memories but decreases their intensity. We work to resolve negative beliefs by replacing them with more adaptive ones. As a result, clients feel relief, healing, and empowerment. EMDR is proven to help with grief & loss, abuse, traumas, phobias, low self-esteem, attachment issues, family disruptions, painful memories, and PTSD.
IFS
Internal Family Systems is an approach that identifies and addresses multiple parts within each person. It focuses on healing wounded parts and restoring internal balance and peace by changing the dynamics that create internal conflict.
DBT
Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy that acknowledges the important relationship between thoughts/beliefs, emotions, and behavior. We can often change our feelings about situations by changing our thoughts and beliefs. Dialectical means combining opposite ideas. In this case, acceptance and change. DBT focuses on assisting people to accept their lives while working to change them. There is also a significant focus on mindfulness.
Gottman Couples Therapy
Julie and John Gottman have studied couples for over 40 years. As a result, they know better than anyone else what makes relationships work. Gottman Therapy uses assessments and interventions designed to help couples strengthen their relationship in three primary areas: friendship, conflict management, and the creation of shared meaning. As a result, couples learn how to interact positively, repair past hurts, and increase connection.
The Gottman Relationship Assessment is offered for additional $40.

Narrative Therapy
Narrative Therapy is a style of therapy that helps people embrace being the expert in their own lives. You know your story best, and you get to tell it - your way. In narrative therapy, we discuss the stories you've developed and carried with you throughout your life.
OCD Treatment
Exposure and Response Prevention is considered the gold standard treatment for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and is also helpful with generalized anxiety. ERP is a behavioral therapy that gradually exposes people to situations designed to provoke a person's anxieties in a safe environment. ERP does not attempt to remove distressing situations and thoughts. Instead, you learn to tolerate uncomfortable feelings and sensations in your body, no longer allowing them to keep you from living a full life. I'm also currently training in Inference-based Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (I-CBT), another evidence-based treatment for OCD. I-CBT is based on the central idea that obsessional doubts are not relevant to the here and now. It focuses more on your relationship with your thoughts.
I am trained in Transforming Touch®, a unique somatic approach that repairs nervous system dysregulation. Early and pre-verbal childhood experiences can leave lasting impacts on overall functioning, such as calm, self-regulation, and sleep. This modality uses light touch and co-regulation, guiding you to bring gentle awareness to your body and address issues often beyond the reach of traditional talk therapy.
Currently, my office space is not set up to accommodate Transforming Touch® sessions, but I’d love to hear from those interested. With enough interest, I plan to expand my space to offer this service in the near future.
